ABOUT
Handloom
&
the Shivabalayogi Seva Foundation
Handloom
is the name under which Shivabalayogi Seva Foundation publishes books, videos
and bhajan recordings about Shivabalayogi.
Shri Swamiji was born as Sathyaraju in the village of
Adivarapupeta in Andra Pradesh, India. Most of the villagers, like Swamiji's own
family, were members of the Devanga community, people who make their living
weaving cloth. Swamiji's native village is small and rustic, a place where cloth
is still woven on handlooms. By the age of six, Swamiji himself had learned how
to weave cotton sarees on a handloom.
The nadis, ancient astrological prophesies, state
that in a past life, Shivabalayogi was Kabir, a great saint revered by Moslem
and Hindu alike. Kabir wrote mystical poetry and worked as a weaver of cloth.
Like Kabir and all Self realized beings, Shivabalayogi does not belong to
any religion. He serves everyone. And like other great Masters, he
teaches through experiences which, with the course of time and perspective,
transform the individual, seemingly unrelated threads into a beautiful tapestry of
life.

The Shivabalayogi Seva Foundation serves as an archive
for documents, photographs, video tapes, audio tapes and film on Shivabalayogi.
In addition to Swamiji’s personal papers, the Foundation has over two hours
of film, a hundred hours of video recordings, thirty hours of audio recordings
of conversations, and 3,600 photographs of Shri Swamiji. It has an extensive
collection of personal experiences with Shivabalayogi, including from devotees
throughout India, the United States, and England.
The Foundation also serves, directly
and indirectly, to support the local meditation and bhajan groups that are open
to the public and make Shivabalayogi’s blessings, particularly the gift of
initiation into meditation, available without charge.
