Foreword

by R. N. Singh Deo, His Highness Maharaja of Patna (present Chief Minister of Orissa), and K. K. Devi, Her Highness Maharani of Patna

"Constant conflict between the forces of good-evil, the Daivi and Asuri Shaktis is going on in the universe since the beginning of creation. With the progress of Science and preponderance of materialism, humanity and the world is rushing headlong towards destruction and darkness.  The greatest need of mankind today is the revival of Spiritualism and Divine guidance."

"At all such troublous times, God comes down on earth in different forms as Saints and Avataras to guide humanity on the right path and save the world from destruction.  History shows that the life of Saints and Avataras is one of suffering and sacrifice for the good of humanity.  The biographical sketch of His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Sivabalayogi Maharaj written by Prof. S. K. Ramachandra Rao, based on information gleaned by him from authentic sources, even though not complete, is a fascinating story of sacrifice, suffering and Divine Initiation, Inspiration and Guidance — the epic story of the great Tapas and Sadhana of a young boy of fourteen for twelve long years against many obstacles and hazards — and the emergence of the young youth as a Siddha Yogi, Sri Sri Sri Sivabalayogi."

"He has come with the mission of healing the body and the mind through Dhyan and Trance and guide and spiritually uplift those who come to him with humility and faith.  His influence for good has already touched large sections of people and will no doubt go on increasing in ever widening circles with the passage of time."

Gen. Hanut Singh with ShivabalayogiShri Shri Shri Shivabalayogi Maharaj, Life & Spiritual Ministration was collected and written by General Hanut Singh (ret.) and originally published by the Bangalore Trust on the occasion of Shri Swamiji's 46th birthday on January 24, 1981.  This was the book that Shri Swamiji brought with him on his first visit to the United States in 1988 (the cover on the left), and it was reprinted (the cover below on the right) for his 1989-1991 tours in the West.

At Shri Swamiji's request, Spiritual Ministration was combined with Darshan and additional material, then published by the Bangalore Trust as Tapas Shakti.

The Practice of DhyanaSpiritual Ministration included an appendix with a detailed description of the practice of dhyana meditation.  The article was based upon Gen. Hanut's conversations with Shri Swamiji, his personal and extensive experience in meditation, and his own study of the Indian traditions of meditation.  The complete article, "The Practice of Dhyana," HERE.

From the Preface to Shri Shri Shri Shivabalayogi Maharaj, Life & Spiritual Ministration

by Lt. Gen. Hanut Singh PVSM, MVC

"The life of a saint is a life essentially of the Spirit; very little of it is discernible because very little of it flows on the surface.  And this life of the Spirit cannot be generally known because Mahatmas rarely, if ever, talk about it; only stray glimpses can be caught from the casual utterances of these Divine Personages.  Sri Swamiji, on the other hand, has been much more forthcoming than most other Mahatmas in giving an account of his personal experience during the 12 long years of Tapas period.  Therefore, the chief value of this book lies in the fact that it contains an authentic and reasonably detailed account of the Tapas of a great Mahatma.  That apart, it contains some valuable practical guidance for Dhyana Yoga Sadhana, as taught by Sri Swamiji.  For both these reasons, this book should prove interesting and useful reading for all classes of spiritual aspirants, and more particularly, to devotees of Sri Swamiji."

Shri Shri Shri Shivabalayogi Maharaj, Life & Spiritual Ministration has been reprinted by Gen. Singh in Dehradun, India.

DarshanDarshan is a collection of notes and transcripts of conversations with Shivabalayogi in Seattle and Portland from 1988 to 1990.  The material was collected and edited by Tom Palotas and sent to Shri Swamiji in Bangalore who had the manuscript published in India by the Bangalore Trust for Swamiji's birthday in 1991.  He brought copies with him to the West that year.  At Shri Swamiji's request, the material in Darshan was combined with General Hanut's biography (Spiritual Ministrations) and, together with devotees' experiences (mostly from the United States) and additional question-and-answer material collected in 1991, it was published in India by the Bangalore Trust for Swamiji's 57th birthday in 1992 as Tapas Shakti.

The Living YogiThe Living Yogi is an account of Shri Swamiji's mission in the world, the events leading up to his mahasamadhi, and his continued presence in the world today.  Written by Tom Palotas, who was with Swamiji during the two months before his mahasamadhi, the book was published by the Bangalore Trust in India in 1995.  The Living Yogi is out of print.  For a more complete account of Shri Swamiji's mission and his mahasamadhi, please refer to Divine Play, the Silent Teaching of Shiva Bala Yogi and to Swamiji's Treasure, God Realization & Experiences of Shivabalayogi.
